Who'll be the next manager of Brazil's national football team?

At the end of March, two days after a humiliating 4-1 defeat against Argentina, Brazil fired its head coach, Dorival Júnior. With four games to go, the Seleção Canarinho are in fourth place in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers, and their form is far from ideal, to say the least. While qualification to the tournament in North America will likely be achieved, it's time for a prediction about who will be the next coach for Pentacampeão. We took the odds from bet365, our long-term trusted partner.

Jorge Jesus (2.10)

According to bet365, the Portuguese manager is the top candidate for the role. He is currently in his second stint with Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal, but the Brazilian Football Confederation is ready to pay the clause to terminate his contract. Jesus already had a successful period in Brazil with Flamengo, winning five trophies in 13 months, including Copa Libertadores and the national championship. There will also be no language barrier, which is another huge plus, so logically, Jesus is the favourite for the job.

Carlo Ancelotti (3.00)

Don Carlo never coached a national team, but his managerial success at the club level makes all of us believe he'll do well with Brazil, too. Ancelotti has a contract with Real Madrid until June 30, 2026, but there have been rumours that he will leave after the current season. Real is second to Barcelona in La Liga and was defeated 3-0 by Arsenal in the first leg of UEFA Champions League quarterfinal, showing very poor results recently. The Italian might want a new challenge, and his connection with Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo, and Éder Militão could be a hint of where he'll work next.

Pep Guardiola (4.00)

Pep is another top coach who has never worked with a national team. He has a contract with Manchester City until June 2027, however, the current season is the worst in the club's history in ages. The FA Cup is their only chance to lift a trophy in 2025 and, maybe, the only way to qualify for a UEFA club competition for the 2025-26 season. Guardiola's style of play might suit Brazil perfectly, but it remains to be seen whether he chooses to try to have a comeback season in Manchester.

Abel Ferreira (11.00)

This is another Portuguese contender, albeit much younger than his rivals. The 46-year-old has been working in Brazil with Palmeiras since 2020, and his contract will expire this December. He has already won two Copa Libertadores, Recopa Sudamericana, two national championships, and the Brazilian Cup, among other trophies, making him the most successful foreign coach in Brazil's history. Having worked in the country for so long, he is an ideal candidate due to his perfect knowledge of local players and their capabilities.

Other contenders

  • Renato Gaucho (17.00)
  • Tite (17.00)
  • Filipe Luis (26.00)
  • Jose Mourinho (26.00)
  • Fernando Diniz (34.00)
  • Felipe Scolari (51.00)

Last thing to mention: bet365 already has the odds for World Cup 2026 outright, with France, Spain and… Brazil as the three main favourites at 7.00.
