On Tuesday evening, League One side Wrexham will face off against Wolves U21 in the second round of the EFL Trophy at Racecourse Ground in Wrexham.

With the arrival of actor Ryan Reynolds, Wrexham became one of the most interesting teams in England. But they also became very successful, securing back-to-back promotions, and are now doing great in League One. The popular Red Dragons are hoping to secure their third promotion in a row, as they are in 2nd place after ten rounds - just two points away from the top spot, but with a game played more. The primary reason for their success is their strong home record, where they won all six games in all competitions.

Wolves U21 finished the previous season in 10th place out of 26 teams and managed to reach the Playoffs. However, the young Wolves proved they are not one of the top teams in the Premier League 2 as they were easily knocked by Sunderland U21 (4:1) in the 1/8 Finals. This year, Wolves U21 aren't doing great as they are currently sitting in 16th place with just seven points in six rounds. Considering they averaged 1.55 per game last year, we can safely say they are on a decline.

Wrexham vs Wolves U21 pick: Over 2.5 goals

Wrexham have been incredible at home, winning five League One games and one EFL Trophy game. They scored a total of 17 goals - 2.83 per game, and it is fair to expect a dominant performance in the EFL Cup against an inexperienced Wolves U21 squad. Mostly due to an impressive offense at Racecourse Ground, the Red Dragons were over 2.5 goals in all six games at home.

Wolves U21, like most Premier League 2 teams, are playing mostly high-scoring games and were over 2.5 goals in four out of six games with an average of four goals per game.

Additionally, both teams were over 2.5 goals in their first ELF Trophy games.

Wrexham are undoubtedly a better team by a mile, but we are reluctant to take a -1.5/2 AH spread because the odds are too low, and the Red Dragons will most likely rotate the squad as they did in the first EFL Trophy game. So, we believe that an over 2.5 goals is the safest option for the upcoming game.
