League Two hosts Walsall should be optimistic of extending their strong run of recent results in Tuesday´s EFL Trophy clash against a badly out of form Shrewsbury.

The hosts come into this contest having won three of their last five matches, while remaining unbeaten in 12 of their last 13 matches since September. Strong at the Poundland Bescot Stadium, Matthew Sadler´s side have picked up eight victories on home soil this season, while losing just one of 12 matches. 

Flying hight in League Two, Walsall will be confident of bridging the gap against a Shrewsbury side that while competing in League One, has lost each of their last five matches. 

The Shrews come into this matchup badly short of confidence, particualry in the forward areas. Shrewsbury scored just once while losing their last five games. Away from home, Shrewsbury have been particularly poor with seven defeats recorded in their nine most recent road trips.
