- Competition: League Two
- Date: Tuesday, 3rd December, 2024
- Kickoff: 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
- Venue: Bescot Stadium (Walsall)
After both teams suffered eliminations from the FA Cup, Walsall and Notts Co will face off in League Two at Bescot Stadium in Walsall.
Since they got relegated to League Two in 2019/20, Walsal have mostly been in the lower part of the league's table. But this season, they have been fantastic and are on the right path to securing promotion. Currently, the Saddlers are second with 31 points in 16 rounds - just three points away from the top spot and with one game played less than 1st-placed Port Vale. After the Notts Co game, they will face Port Vale, and it is crucial for them to secure two positive results.
Notts Co achieved promotion to League Two in the 2022/23 season and had an interesting following season. For most of the season, they were in the playoff spots, but due to a terrible second part of the year, they dropped to 14th place. This year, the Magpies are doing well and are in 5th with 28 points in 17 rounds, just two points away from third place and direct promotion. However, their recent results haven't been great, and will now have a difficult task against Walsall.
Walsall vs Notts Co pick: Over 2.5 goals
At home, Walsall are the best team in the league for this type of bet (at home), as 75% of their League Two home games ended with three or more goals. They have been really efficient at home, scoring 17 goals, which is the most in the league. However, defensively, they haven't been as great, considering they kept their net intact once in the last seven home games in all competitions. And in League Two, they only had two clean sheets in eight home games - 25%.
Notts Co are not as good as Walsall for this type of bet, but away from home, their defense has been pretty bad lately. They allowed six goals in the last two and had only two clean sheets in 12 road games in all competitions.
In the previous season, both h2h games ended with more than three goals. Considering just how bad their defenses looked in recent games, and considering all the above, we believe that an over 2.5 goals bet should be the safest option for this League Two tie.

Walsall team news
In the previous game against Charlton, midfielders Jamie Jellis and Brandon Comley suffered injuries and had to leave the field. While Comley isn't too important a part of the starting lineup, Jellis is the team's key player, and his potential absence could be a massive factor. He started in 88% of Walsall's League Two games and has scored three goals.

Notts Co team news
After a 4:3 loss against Peterborough in the FA Cup, coach Stuart Maynard spoke to the media. He was really satisfied with the performance despite the result, saying they played well against an excellent team from League One. The coach also said they had to make some changes around the 60-65 minute mark because they will have a busy schedule, and he had to give rest to some of the players.
