VPS are continuously improving. After securing a return to Finish's top-flight division in the 2020/21 season, they had one 10th-place and a 3rd-place finish in the following two seasons. Last year, when they finished 3rd, they managed to secure European qualifiers for the first time since the 2017/18 season and only the sixth ever. This year, VPS had one of the best start to the season in Veikkausliiga in the club's history. After seven rounds, they hold the top spot with 16 points, three points away from KuPS. 

In the previous seven seasons, KuPS were among the best teams in Finland, constantly finishing in the top three spots. This year, they did fine in the League Cup but lost the finals against Inter Turku after a penalty shootout. In the league, KuPS are in the OK position, holding 4th place with 13 points after seven rounds. Still, the impression is that they are not playing as well as the results represent (especially away from home) and will have a really tough job on the road against the league's leader.

VPS is playing great, winning five of seven matches while scoring two goals per game! In the last game, they even won 2:1 away from home against probably the strongest team in the league, HJK.

KuPS are undefeated in the first seven rounds. However, they have been much better at home than on the road. So far, they averaged three points per game at home compared to "only" 1.4 away from it.

These teams met just on May 10th, with KuPS winning 2:1 at home. Still, we saw a really close match, where VPS deserved at least a draw as they had the exact possession (50%) and ten more goal attempts. Now, at Lemonsoft Stadion, considering all the above, we believe VPS should be closer to winning the game.
