An intriguing La Liga contest is set for the Estadio de la Cerámica on Sunday evening as Villarreal takes on Betis.

Real Betis make the trip to Villarreal in high spirits after extending their unbeaten run to three matches on Thursday. A 1:0 win at Petroclub in the Conference League secured their place in the knockout phase of Europe´s third-tier competition.

While Manuel Pellegrini´s side have failed to win any of their last five La Liga matches, Los Verdiblancos did claim a 2:2 draw with league leaders Barcelona in their most recent league outing. 

Entertaining encounters have been relatively frequent for the visitors, with three of their last four league fixtures seeing BTTS and a minimum of four goals scored. Four of Betis´s six previous away league outings also saw both teams get on the scoresheet.

Villarreal return to La Liga action looking to bounce back from successive road defeats against Pontevedra (Copa del Rey) and Bilbao in the past ten days.

Much stronger in home matches, the Yellow Submarine have won three and lost only one of seven La Liga games played at Estadio de la Cerámica this season. However, a lack of clean sheets remains an issue for Marcelino´s men. Villarreal conceded at least one goal in 16 of their last 17 matches.

Considering both teams' respective form and Villarreal´s inability to keep clean sheets, BTTS should prove a safe play on Sunday, while I also expect at least three goals scored.
