Viborg return to Superliga action this weekend looking for a positive start in front of their own support at Energi Viborg Arena.

After beginning their pre-season preparations with a 1:0 defeat against Norwegians Haugesund, Jakob Poulsen´s side bounced back with a pair of friendly victories against Arka Gdynia and AAB in the past fortnight.

After a ninth placed finish last season, Viborg face a stiff test against a Brondby side that suffered heart-break in the race for the Superliga crown. Jesper Sørensen´s men finished the campaign just one point behind title winners FC Midtjylland.

Brondby now return to competitive action after a disappointing pre-season saw them lose two and win just one of four fixtures. Drengene Fra Vestegnen slipped to a 4:0 defeat against Dynamo Kiev in their final warm-up fixture last weekend.

Sorensen´s side edged to a 2:1 win when these sides last met at Energi Viborg Arena last March, and a similar outcome seems likely this weekend. 

Viborg´s home record reveals they have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored in eight of their last ten league fixtures at this venue. Twelve of 16 home games played last season saw both outcomes. 

Similarly, Brondby saw both teams scoring in six of their last eight away Superliga contests. Six of those eight fixtures also saw at least three goals scored. 

While it´s tough to make too many concrete calls on the opening day of the season, both teams look likely to score in a competitive contest in Viborg.
