Uruguay travel to Estadio Monumental de Maturin for Tuesday's 2026 World Cup qualifying clash after a disappointing goalless draw against Paraguay last week.

Venezuela come into this World Cup qualifying contest looking to bounce back from a miserable 4:0 defeat at Bolivia on Thursday. La Vinotinto had enjoyed a five-game unbeaten run in WC qualifiers prior to their humbling in El Alto.

Fernando Batista´s side have improved significantly in the past year or with their performance in the 2024 Copa America particularly impressive, as they topped their group with three consecutive wins against Ecuador, Mexico, and Jamaica. However, their campaign ended in disappointment with a penalty-shootout loss to Canada in the quarter-finals.

While confidence will have been dented by their defeat in Bolivia, Venezuela remain solid at home, keeping three clean sheets in their last three home qualifiers, collecting seven points in the process.

Ultimately, a tight contest seems likely on Tuesday with both teams short in goal-scoring firepower. With that in mind, under 2.5 goals is my only pick in Maturin.
