After a mini-break, La Liga is set to restart. On Friday evening, Valencia, the relegation candidate, will welcome the reigning champs, Real Madrid, at Estadio de Mestalla in Valencia.
Valencia are playing one of the worst seasons in the club's history. While it was evident they were no longer a team that battles for Europe, no one really believed they would be this bad. Right now, the Bats are in 19th place with only 12 points in 17 rounds - four away from the safe zone, although with a game played fewer. However, looking at their upcoming schedule, it will be very challenging for them to escape the danger zone, considering they will face Real Madrid, Sevilla, Real Sociedad, and Barcelona in the upcoming four matches.
Real Madrid are doing fine this year. However, after acquiring Mbappe over the Summer, many football pundits expected more from them. Los Blancos are second in La Liga, one point behind the first-placed Atletico Madrid. Still, in the Champions League, they are not even close to the expected level, considering they are in 20th place with nine points in six rounds. But unlike Valencia, which will have a tough schedule, Real Madrid will have a pretty easy one and could make a nice run.
Valencia vs Real Madrid pick: Real Madrid to win and cover the -1 AH spread
Valencia are in terrible form, winning just two points in the last four matches, and have faced only teams from the bottom of the league's table. So, expecting a positive result against Real Madrid is unreal.
On the other hand, Real Madrid caught some momentum before the mini-break, winning three out of the last four matches. Their offense has been on point, scoring three or more goals on all four occasions. To be fair, Los Blancos weren't fantastic away from home, winning five out of 12 matches in all competitions. Still, in the last three, they won seven points, and we saw some progress in there.
Simply put, the difference in quality and form is massive, and anything but a big win for the Los Blancos would be a surprise.
