Utrecht have been in the top seven teams in Eredivisie in the last nine seasons. But this season, the popular Cathedral citizens have been playing their best football for a very long time. They hold the 3rd place but are on a level with points with 2nd-placed Ajax. Right now, they are only five points away from the league's leader, PSV, and have played one game fewer. So, these types of games against Heracles and Nijmegen (in the next round) are must-win in order to stay around these spots. That is especially true because, after those two games, they will face off against PSV and Ajax, where it will be very hard to win points.
Heracles returned to Eredivisie last year and barely secured survival, finishing 14th - four points away from the danger zone. Midfielder Can Bozdogan suffered an injury in the previous game against Sparta Rotterdam and had to leave the field in the 42nd minute. According to media reports, he has ACL problems and will definitely miss at least the next game. With him out, we will most likely see Oscar Fraulo in the starting lineup.
Besides Bozdogan, whom we mentioned, Kevin Gadellaa and Alonzo Engwanda, who missed the previous games with their injuries, should remain sidelined.

After a 2:0 win over NAC Breda, coach Erwin van de Looi spoke to the media. He was happy and said they finally moved from nine points. The coach said he did not feel the pressure after three losses in a row but noted that the team did a bit and, because of it, they were sloppy with the ball. Still, he said they did well in the second half and hopes they can continue with such performances.
The team should have no new injuries. However, the players who missed the previous games should remain sidelined - Stijn Bultman, Sava-Arangel Cestic, Laursen, and Sem Scheperman.
