A place in the final of the English League Cup will be at stake when Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool go head to head on Wednesday night.
Tottenham Hotspur booked their place in the quarter-finals by Manchester United 4-3 at this ground, while Liverpool beat Southampton 2-1 to get this far.
The hosts have not been able to win a football match since their win over Man United in this competition over two weeks ago. Ange Postecoglou’s side hosted Newcastle United in the Premier League last weekend it what was their fourth game since their League Cup over the Red Devils. The defending was poor as it has been the case this season with the Lillywhites not only losing but conceding 2+ goals for the fourth time in five matches.
Liverpool meanwhile drop points for only the fifth time in the Premier League this season with an entertaining 2:2 draw with Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday evening. The Reds didn't quite hit the standards we have seen this season, with the draw ending a four match winning streak, but they once again showed that they can score goals even when on rainy days.
