A tight encounter seems likely when bottom of the table Tenerife face-off against promotion-chasing Zaragoza this weekend. 

After failing to win any of their first seven league fixtures of the campaign, Tenerife finally got off the mark last weekend with a much-needed 2:0 win against Cartagena. Pepe Mel´s strugglers picked up just two points from their first seven league fixtures of the new campaign. 

Despite their poor start to the season, Los Blanquiazules remain a tough side to beat at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez Lopéz with only three defeats suffered in 13 games played since February.

Low-scoring outcomes have been frequent at this venue. Under 2.5 goals occurred in eight of Tenerife´s last eight home fixtures, with an average of just 1.5 goals scored in those games.

Zaragoza make the trip to the Canary Islands, currently fifth in the division but in the midst of a poor run of results. Having collected ten points from their first four games of the new Segunda Division season, Victor Fernández´s side have since lost three of their last four league fixtures.

Like the home side, low-scoring outcomes can be expected when Zaragoza are in action, particularly in away fixtures. Fernandez´s men have seen under 2.5 goals in six of their last eight matches. 

Recent encounters between these sides also proved consistently low-scoring. Just one of their last 13 meetings since 2017 saw more than two goals scored. 

Considering their respective home and away form, a play on under 2.5 goals looks the safest option on Friday evening.
