The African qualification campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup continues during this March international break, with Tanzania taking on Congo on Monday.

Congo are still searching for their first point in Group E, while the hosts have taken six points from their three matches so far.

Tanzania go into Monday's game on the back of three consecutive defeats. The last of these came against Burkina Faso in a friendly at the Gombani Stadium last month, where they failed to score for the third time in a row. However, the fact that all three of those defeats came in friendlies should give them some motivation and the Taifa Stars have now won their last two competitive matches.

Congo meanwhile are winless in their last five matches. The visitors' last competitive outing was in November, when they hosted Uganda in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. Les Léopards suffered a second successive defeat and will be looking to bounce back on Monday.

Tanzania vs Congo Betting Tips: Match is cancelled (Update)

The lack of goals has been the biggest headline in Tanzania's recent encounters. Their last three matches have all ended with less than 2.5 goals scored, although all were friendlies, and their last four competitive matches have ended in similar fashion.

Meetings between Tanzania and Congo are also known for being very close. At least one team failed to score in five of the last six meetings and as many matches ended with under two goals scored.

  • Best Tip: Under 2.5 goals
  • Tanzania vs Congo prediction: 1-0

Tanzania team news

Tanzania national team head interim coach Hemed Morocco will continue to rely on the services of PAOK forward Mbwana Samatta.

Mbawana has scored four times in nine Super League Greece outings this season and should lead the line for the Taifa Stars on Monday, while Feisal Salum will hope to keep his place in the middle of the park.

Congo team news

The most noticeable name in the DR Congo squad named by head coach Sébastien Desabre for this month’s international break is Brentford forward Yoana Wissa.

Yoana has been in fine form for the Bees in the Premier League this season, finding the back of the net 13 times and will surely lead the line for his nation on Monday.
