If we exclude the 2020/21 season, when they finished sixth, Strasbourg have been in the mid or lower part of the league's table in recent few years. Over the Summer, they tried to improve the team by spending a lot of money, at least by their standards. So far, it seems to be paying off, as the Blue-and-Whites currently sit in 8th place with nine points from six matches - just one point behind their next opponent and the European spots. Still, in order to secure Europe, they will have to fix their road problems because they won 78% of their points at home.

Last year, Lens finished seventh in Ligue 1, which, considering their second-place finish the previous season, can be seen as a setback. But, to be fair, that is probably their realistic placement. This season, Lens got off to a flying start, winning three consecutive matches across all competitions. But after that excellent beginning, they went five games without a victory. Despite the dip in results, they look good and will probably start winning games pretty soon.

Strasbourg vs Lens pick: Under 2.5 goals

The primary reason for this bet is the fact that Lens are constantly playing low-scoring games and were under 2.5 goals in six games in Ligue 1. In all competitions, Lens were under 2.5 goals in seven out of eight games - 87.5%. The only game where they were over 2.5 goals was against Panathinaikos, but only because Facundo Medina received a red card early in the game. If it weren't for that, Lens would probably have all eight games with fewer than three goals.

On the other hand, Strasbourg were under 2.5 goals in 50% of their games and in terms of goals, they are pretty hard to predict. Still, we believe that Lens will control the game, and we expect a low-scoring match.
