Stoke City are playing their seventh consecutive season in the Championship, where they have been constantly between the 14th and 17th place. It seems that this season will be no exception and that Potters will once again finish around their usual placement. With only two rounds to go, they sit in 17th place with 50 points - four away from the relegation zone. So, they haven't secured survival mathematically and will most likely need some points in the remaining two games vs Sheffield and Derby.
Meanwhile, Sheffield United have constantly traveled between the Premier League and Championship in recent seasons. Last year, they suffered another relegation and are looking for an instant return. Throughout the season, it looked like they would secure an instant one, but after losing four of the last five games, they are forced to look for promotion through the playoffs. In the remaining two games, they are without a motive as they cannot move up or down on the league's table.
Stoke vs Sheffield United pick: Stoke to (AH 0) win
Stoke are in solid form, winning two of the last three games and losing only once in the previous six. Yes, that loss was a massive one (6:0), but that was against the best team in the league away from home. So, we can give them a pass on that one. At home, Stoke are doing an excellent job, as they are undefeated in the last five while winning three of the previous four. Moreover, at Bet365 Stadium, Stoke won over 66% of their points this season.
On the other hand, Sheffield are in terrible form, losing four of the last five games and three road games in a row. While we believe they are a good team, we do not trust them in this match. Besides their atrocious form, the Blades are without a motive in these remaining two games and will likely rest some key players to keep them fresh for the playoffs. On the other hand, Stoke have a massive motive here - survival.
Considering all the above, we believe Stoke are closer to winning the upcoming Championship tie.

Stoke team news
After a big 6:0 loss to Leeds, coach Mark Robins spoke to the media. He said they didn't compete but will not overreact because they have to be ready for Friday. The coach said they gave them too much freedom, which is unacceptable against the team that will play in the Premier League next season.
Eric Bocat, Michael Rose, Souleymane Sidibe, Enda Stevens, and Jordan Thompson, who missed the previous games with injuries, should remain sidelined.

Sheffield United team news
After a 2:1 loss against Burnley, coach Chris Wilder spoke to the media. He said they cannot feel sorry for themselves and cannot let morale drop too low after missing an automatic promotion. "Hopefully, the majority of the supporters will see that and back us in the playoff games, and if we get the better of four 45-minute halves, we have a trip to Wembley."
When it comes to injuries, the players who missed the previous games should remain sidelined - Sai Sachdev, Rhys Norrington-Davies, Tom Davies, Harry Clarke, and Ollie Arblaster.
