St Etienne, one of France's most successful and biggest clubs, is not even close to their former glory. The Greens spent the previous two seasons in Ligue 2 but returned to the France top-flight division. This year, they are only looking to survive somehow, but for now, the situation isn't looking too optimistic. They sit in 16th place with 19 points from 23 matches - three points away from the safe zone. After the Nice game, the Greens will have two crucial games against Le Havre and Montpellier, which could decide the faith of the entire season.
Meanwhile, Nice are playing one of their best seasons in a while, at least in the Ligue 1. They are in 3rd place with 43 points in 23 rounds and are currently holding the spot for direct placement in the Champions League next year. However, their performances in the Cup competitions were terrible. The Eaglets were knocked out of the French Cup by Stade Briochin and were terrible in the Europa League, winning only three points in eight rounds. However, they will focus on the domestic league because of those eliminations, which will probably help them in their battle for the top three spots.
St Etienne vs Nice pick: Nice to win
St Etienne are in terrible form, having lost three of the last four matches while allowing 14 goals - 3.5 per game. Moreover, they only won once over the previous 20 games in all competitions!
Meanwhile, Nice won three games in a row against Montpellier, Le Havre, and Lens while covering the -1.5 AH spread every time. So, even though we cannot call Nice a great road team, we believe they can win against one of the worst teams in Ligue 1.
Also, in the first h2h game this season, Nice absolutely embarrassed St. Etienne, winning 8:0 and tying the club's record for the biggest win in the club's history. Additionally, Nice won four of the last five h2h games.
Considering the previous games and all the above, we believe the Eaglets will secure a comfortable win over the Greens at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

St Etienne team news
Forward Irvin Cardona suffered an injury in the previous game against Angers and had to leave the field ten minutes before the end of the match. The 27-year-old scored two goals and assisted one in the last two appearances, and this injury came at a really inconvenient time.
The players who missed the previous games with injuries should remain sidelined - Dennis Appiah, Benjamin Old, and Ibrahima Wadji.

Nice team news
Left full-back/wing-back Melvin Bard served his one-game suspension in the previous match against Montpelier and will be available. The 24-year-old started in Nice's last four league games, and his return will be a massive boost for the team.
However, Terem Moffi and Morgan Sanson, who missed the previous games with injuries, should remain sidelined.
