Sporting CP are one of Portugal's greatest teams and the reigning Liga Pro champ. This year, the popular Lions had an incredible start, but things started changing for the worse when coach Ruben Amorim left in mid-November. They had some ups and downs along the way, but after being eliminated from the CL by Dortmund, the team began playing a lot better. Right now, they are at the top of Liga Portugal with 65 points in 27 rounds - three more than second-placed Benfica, but with one game played more. In this Taca de Portugal duel, Sporting are a massive favorite, with the odds offering odds under 1.1 for them to reach the Finals.
Since returning to the Portugal top-flight division, Rio Ave finished 12th and 11th, while winning 40 and 37 points. This season seems very similar to the last two, as they are around their usual point-per-game average. They sit in 12th place with 29 points in 27 rounds - six away from the danger zone. However, after losing four of the last five, they have every reason to be worried about the remainder of the season.
Sporting CP vs Rio Ave pick: Sporting to win and cover the -2 AH spread
Sporting CP are on a superb five-game winning streak while winning by a two-goal difference on four occasions! They really looked great offensively, and it's fair to expect they will continue with such performance against struggling Rio Ave.
Rio Ave, on the other hand, lost three in a row and four of the last five. Also, if we look at their road games in Liga Portugal, we can see they lost 10 out of 14 games - 71%.
This season, these teams met twice, with Sporting CP winning both games with a combined goal difference of 6:1. Considering the previous h2h games and the difference in form, we strongly believe the Lions will dominate the match and win at home by at least two goals difference.

Sporting CP team news
Hidemasa Morita is the newest name on the injury list. The 29-year-old was on international duty with Japan, but unfortunately, he returned to the team with a muscle injury and will most likely miss the Taca de Portugal game.
Besides Morita, the players who missed the previous games should remain sidelined - Daniel Braganca, Pedro Goncalves, Nuno Santos, and Joao Simoes.
