Top faces bottom as an in-form Liverpool look to maintain their five point advantage at the summit of the Premier League against a Southampton side that remain rooted to the foot of the division.

Picking up just four points from 11 games played, Russel Martin´s men have struggled on their return to England's top flight, but did claim a 1:0 win against Everton in their most recent home fixture. However, the Saints have lost three of five EPL games played at St.Mary´s this season.

Liverpool make the trip south in fine form after extending their winning run to four matches with a 2.0 win against Aston Villa before the international break. Arne Slot´s in-form side have won 12 and drawn one of 13 games since a surprise 1:0 loss to Nottingham Forest in September.

On the road, the Reds remain a formidable proposition, with four wins and one draw collected from five away EPL games this season. 

Boasting a dominant record in this fixture, Liverpool claimed 11 wins while losing just one of 13 matches against the Saints since 2017. The Reds won four of their last six visits to this venue although were held to a 4:4 draw in their most recent trip last year.

While the hosts are an attractive side to watch, it's hard to envisage them taking anything from Sunday's afternoon fixture.

An away win is my expected outcome although Saints are likely to make it a competitive afternoon on the south coast.
