Southampton suffered relegation from the Premier League in 2022/23 but gained an instant return in the following season. This year, the Saints are looking like the worst team in the English top-flight division, and relegation seems inevitable. In 29 rounds, the Saints won just nine points and are 17 points away from the safe zone. Considering what we have seen from them this year, it would take a miracle for them to escape relegation in the remaining nine rounds. The bookies are confident they would get relegated and do not have odds on that bet.
Crystal Palace are playing their 12th consecutive season in the Premier League, where they were exclusively a mid-table team. This year, the Eagles had a terrible start, and it even looked like they could get involved in a relegation battle. Still, we were sure they are too good to struggle that much. And indeed, they proved that in the second part of the season. The Eagles are in 12th with 39 points from 28 rounds, and moving significantly up or down seems unreal. However, the Eagles secured the FA Cup Semi-Finals with the latest win over Fulham and could secure Europe through that competition.
Southampton vs Crystal Palace pick: Crystal Palace to win
Southampton have been absolutely terrible this season, losing 24 out of 29 PL games - 83%. As the season progresses, they only look worse and worse. Right now, they are on a six-game losing streak while allowing 17 goals - almost three per game.
On the other hand, Crystal Palace won five games in a row and looked great in the process. They are generally playing well for a long time, winning 11 out of the last 13 games in all competitions! And away from home, they are also doing great, winning seven in a row. We cannot really say they had a challenging schedule, but it is still a great run.
In the first h2h game, the Eagles won 2:1. Considering the difference in form and all the above, anything but a win for Crystal Palace would be a massive surprise.

Crystal Palace team news
Midfielder Will Hughes is unavailable as he will serve the second of his two-game ban. However, the midfielder is sick and most likely wouldn't be able to play anyway. Thus far, he started in 68% of their PL games, assisting four times.
Joel Ward, Chadi Riad, and Cheick Doucoure, who missed the previous game(s), should remain sidelined.
