On Saturday afternoon, two out-of-form teams, Southampton and Brentford, will face off in the 20th round of the Premier League at St. Mary's Stadium in Southampton.

Southampton were relegated from the Premier League in the 2022/23 season but managed to secure an instant return the following season. Unfortunately for the Saints, they are on the path of returning to the Championship once again. They are in 20th place with only six points in 19 rounds, and survival seems like an impossible task as they are already ten points away from it. They even changed the coach, but it did not pay off so far.

Brentford arrived in the English top-flight in 2021/22 and was a stable mid-table team in the following three seasons. This season, the Bees are once again looking like a mid-table team as they hold 12th place with 24 points from 19 rounds. Still, they are in a slump, winning just one point in the last four PL games, and this game against Southampton is the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways.

Southampton vs Brentford pick: Under 3.5 goals

Southampton have been absolutely terrible offensively this season, scoring only 12 goals so far in 19 rounds - 0.63 per game. While many hoped that would change under the new coach, Ivan Juric, that hasn't happened, as the Saints scored just one goal in the first two games under the new coach.

Meanwhile, Brentford are also in bad form, winning one point in the last five games in all competitions. During that bad stretch, they scored only three goals - 0.6 per game. Also, most of their good games this season came at home. Away from it, the Bees won just two points in nine rounds while scoring just six goals!

Considering both teams' forms and all the above, we believe that an under 3.5 goals bet is the safest option for this PL tie.
