  • Competition: Africa Cup of Nations qualifications
  • Date: Friday, 11th October 2024
  • Kickoff: 18:00 UK / 19:00 CEST
  • Venue: Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium (Gqeberha)

South Africa's best result in the 21st century was third place at the previous Africa Cup of Nations. Hugo Broos' team is playing well, and they have not had a defeat in the last ten matches in all competitions. South Africa put themself in a solid position in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifications, too, as they collected four points from the first two rounds. In September, Broos' team first played 2-2 against Uganda, while four days later, they won 3-2 against South Sudan.

Congo missed four consecutive Africa Cup of Nations. South Africa seems to be the best team in this qualification group, but Congo should be able to compete with Uganda for the second position on the table. However, Congo is in terrible form, with only one win in the last eight matches. In September, they first won 1-0 against South Sudan, after which Isaac N'Gata's team lost 2-0 against Uganda.

South Africa vs Congo pick: South Africa to win and cover AH -1.5 spread

South Africa are in a series of great results, while Congo is struggling in almost every match. We should expect South Africa to win and cover AH -1.5 spread on Friday at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

South Africa team news

Bafana Bafana's head coach, Hugo Broos, decided to drop Jayden Adams from the squad after the player didn't show up on time in Gqeberha. The head coach decided to call Sinoxolo Kwayiba from Chippa United as a replacement. South Africa already have problems in midfield as Siphephelo Sithole and Thalente Mbatha have been withdrawn from the squad due to injury, but now Broos lost another midfielder in Adams because of a lack of discipline.

Congo team news

Congo have big problems with injuries, so the games in October will miss several important players, like Silvere Ganvoula, Beni Makouana, and Kevin Mouanga. The head coach called up some solid replacements in Romaric Etou and Nolan Mbemba, but Congo now certainly looks significantly weaker.
