Derry City make the trip to Sligo in search of a fifth successive Premier Division victory after a thumping 5:1 win against Drogheda United last week. An impressive display saw five different players get on the scoresheet for Ruaidhrí Higgins side. 

Unbeaten in six league matches, Derry find themselves second in the Premier Division, just two points behind leaders Shelbourne, albeit having played one game more than the pacesetters. 

On the road, Derry have struggled to turn draws into victories. Higgins' men, while losing just two of 11 away matches, have won only three on their travels this season (W3, D6, L2).

Defensively secure, Derry conceded just two goals in their last six away fixtures. Five of those games saw under 2.5 goals scored, and a similarly tight affair seems likely against a Sligo side that are tough to beat at The Showgrounds. 

While sitting seventh in the ten-team division, Sligo have lost only two of their last nine home fixtures, with a pair of wins picked up in their last two run outs in front of their own support. Five of Sligo´s last seven home fixtures saw under 2.5 goals scored.

Recent encounters between these sides have also proven tight affairs. Six of their last eight meetings over the past two years saw less than three goals scored. 

Taking these numbers into consideration, I expect another low-scoring matchup so I'm backing under 2.5 goals scored at The Showgrounds on Thursday.
