Nigeria will be looking for their first win in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers when they take on Rwanda in the Gasabo area of Kigali on Friday night.

The hosts lead Group C with seven points from four games, while Nigeria are just one point adrift of the bottom spot with three points.

Rwanda have undergone a massive improvement in recent years. The Wasps finished bottom of their group with just one point in their last appearance in World Cup qualifying but have lost just one of the four played so far this time.

Nigeria have lost just one of their last seven matches in all competitions, registering as many draws (3) as wins. However, the Super Eagles will be worried by the fact that their only defeat in that spell came against Rwanda in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.

Rwanda vs Nigeria Betting Tips: Nigeria to win

Despite failing to win four of their last seven matches, the Super Eagles haven't been too bad, especially defensively, as they conceded under 1.5 goals in all but one of those games. Éric Chelle's side kept four clean sheets in that time and I think this defensive solidity will be key against Rwanda on Friday.

Rwanda, on the other hand, have struggled defensively, with Wasps failing to keep a clean sheet in each of their last four matches. They conceded six goals in total and also lost at home to Libya in AFCON qualifying in November.

  • Best Tip: Nigeria to win
  • Rwanda vs Nigeria prediction: 1-2

Rwanda team news

Rwanda will be without two key players for this week's clash with Nigeria following the death of their father on Monday.

APR defender Fitina Omborenga and his younger brother Yunusu Nshimiyimana left the squad following the sad news and the two are not expected to feature in Friday's game.
