An entertaining contest seems likely in Munich with both nations showing plenty of attacking potential in the group phase.

Romania secured their place in the last 16 after a 1-1 draw against Slovakia helped them claim an unlikely place as group winners. In a remarkable section where all four teams finished deadlocked with four points, the Romanian´s three goal win against Ukraine on matchday one proved decisive.

Previous appearances at the European Championship had proven fairly miserable for the Romanians. They won only one of 16 previous matches at this tournament since 1984.

Netherlands also emerged from a tough section alongside Austria and France but a 3:2 defeat to the Austrians on matchday three ensured they finished Group D in third place. 

While the Dutch are favourites to progress on Tuesday, Romania´s impressive performances in the group phase should not be dismissed. Dutch defensive indecision could again prove costly against a nation that looks to be full of confidence after topping Group E.

With the Romanians in high spirits, I would be surprised to see Edward Iordănescu ́s side fail to net in Munich. Of course, the Dutch can usually be relied upon to score, so we should be optimistic of both teams netting in a likely high-octane contest.

Ultimately, I expect a long-distance contest that could easily finish level after 90 minutes. BTTS is my top tip and don´t be surprised if the Romanians can push a still inconsistent Dutch side all the way.
