Due to a football calendar different from that of most European countries, the season in Latvia is over. RFS did a fantastic job, winning both the Cup and the league title. However, (expectedly) they weren't great in the Europa League, as they sit in 34th place with two points from six rounds. So, even with a potential two wins in the last two rounds against Ajax and Dynamo Kiyv, they have almost no chance of reaching the desired 24th place. But to be fair, no one really believed they were good enough to secure the next phase of the competition anyway.
Ajax had a terrible season behind them, finishing 5th in the domestic league. This season, they had ups and downs, but after four straight wins in the league, they managed to climb to second place and are now only one point away from the first-placed PSV. When it comes to the EL, they did fine and are now in 11th place with 10 points - just one point away from reaching the top 8. If they succeed in reaching it, they will avoid playing an extra duel in the 1/16 Finals.
RFS vs Ajax pick: Ajax to win and cover the -1 AH spread
RFS might be dominant in the domestic league, but objectively, that is not a strong league. In the EL, they lost four of six games. Yes, they had two good draws against Galatasaray and Anderlecht, but they were outplayed in both games, and we could easily see them losing all six games.
Ajax are in solid form. They won five out of six games and were pretty efficient, as they scored two or more goals in all of those five wins. So, we expect a good offensive performance against RFS, too.
Simply put, the difference in quality, motive, and form is too great, and we expect a comfortable win for Ajax.

The club has been pretty active in the transfer window, considering they added a few new players - Yukiyoshi Karashima, Mor Talla, and Rostand Ndjiki, but we will most likely not see them in the squad for the Ajax game.

In the last game, the team's best full-back, Devyne Rensch, did not start. According to speculations, the player will join AS Roma, and the coach will most likely play him for only a limited number of minutes. "There are a lot of rumors about him these days, so it is my choice to post him on the bench today," coach Farioli commented.
