For the second season in a row, Rennes is not doing as expected and will, it seems, miss Europe once again. The Red and Blacks heavily underperformed in the first part of the season, but since changing the coach, they started to play a bit better. Right now, they are sitting in 11th place with only 35 points in 29 rounds but are much closer to the relegation zone (six points) than the European spots (a whopping 15 points away). So, Europe is off the table, but we highly doubt they would get too involved in the relegation battle this year despite being pretty close. We believe they are simply too good for that.
Nantes, an eight-time French champion, are not even close to its former glory. The popular Canaries had disappointing previous two seasons, barely securing survival by winning just 36 and 33 points. This year, they are again struggling as they average around the same points per game thus far. Currently, they sit in 13th place with 30 points in 28 rounds - just three points away from the relegation playout, but with a game played less.
Rennes vs Nantes pick: Rennes to win
Rennes won six and lost four in the last ten games. They have been a bit inconsistent, but all four of their losses came against the top ten teams, which showed a lot more than Nantes this season. Also, at home, Rennes have been fantastic against teams from the bottom of the league's table, easily beating all five teams (Montepellier, St. Etienne, Le Havre, Reims, and Angers). So, it is fair to expect they would do well against Nantes as well.
Nantes have been terrible away from home, losing three of the last four matches while allowing 13 goals - 3.25 per game. Even in the match they won 2:1 against Nice, Nantes have been terrible and deserved to lose. They had only 0.57xG compared to Nice's 1.9 and only 24% ball possession!
In the first h2h game, Nantes won 1:0. However, Rennes received two red cards in that match and also had one goal disallowed by VAR. On the other hand, at Roazhon Park in Rennes, The Red and Blacks have been fantastic, winning the last six h2h games there! Considering the previous h2h games at Roazhon Park and all the above, we believe Rennes are much closer to winning the upcoming Ligue 1 match.

Rennes team news
Recently, there has been a growing interest for striker Arnaud Kalimuendo. The 23-year-old French striker scored 14 goals in 28 Ligue 1 appearances and is tied for the third most goals in Ligue 1. Only Dembele and Greenwood scored more goals than Kalimuendo. According to speculations, Eintracht Frankfurt is very interested in him after Omar Marmoush left to join Manchester City. The transfer could be worth around 20+ million euros.
When it comes to injuries, the players who missed the previous games should remain sidelined - Ludovic Blas, Mikayil Faye, and Alidu Seidu.

Nantes team news
Central defender Jean-Charles Castelletto served his two-game suspension and will be available. The 30-year-old defender started in 86% of their league games, and we expect him back in the starting lineup.
Also, Fabien Centonze, Pedro Chirivella, Francis Coquelin, Adel Mahamoud, and Nathan Zeze, who missed the previous game(s), should remain sidelined.
