Rennes go in search of a third successive victory on Sunday when they face Lille in a likely entertaining Ligue 1 matchup.

A largely disappointing campaign sees the home side sit 12th in Ligue 1, 12 points behind 5th placed Lille. However, back-to-back victories against Strasbourg and Saint Etienne in the past fortnight have raised spirits at Roazhon Park. 

Inconsistency has been the biggest issue for Habib Bèye´s side, although they have shown some improvement since the Senegalese was appointed to the role of head coach in January. At Roazhon Park, Rennes won five but lost four of their last ten home fixtures.

While not a banker choice in the goal markets, four of Rennes last six fixtures saw BTTS, while that outcome has been a frequent one in previous matches against Lille. Only three of 15 previous meetings between these sides did not see both teams get on the scoresheet. Six of their last seven encounters at this venue finished with both teams scoring. 

Lille comes into Sunday's contest after a disastrous fortnight which saw them dumped out of the CDF against lower league Dunkerque before a 2:1 home reversal against Le Havre.

A much more consistent choice for goal backers, remarkably only three of Lille´s last 20 fixtures did not see BTTS. All but one of ten games played in 2025 saw both teams hit the target.

Considering those numbers, and past meetings between these sides, I am confident we will see another high-scoring outcome this weekend. 

BTTS looks the best choice for what promises to be a competitive contest at Roazhon Park.
