Real Madrid will be looking to get back to winning form in the Copa del Rey when they entertain Celta Vigo at the Bernabeu on Thursday.

After a thumping 5:2 defeat in the Super Cup final on Sunday, Real Madrid will be looking for a return to winning ways when they host Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey. 

A disastrous first-half display in Riyadh saw Carlo Ancelotti´s men leak four first-half goals to trail their Catalian rivals 4:1 at the interval. Despite playing against ten men for over 30 minutes in the second period, Los Merengues slumped to a painful reversal in Saudi Arabia.

Returning to Copa del Rey business, Real will be expected to get back on the winning saddle. Ancelotti´s side won eight of their last nine home league fixtures. 

High-scoring outcomes have been frequent for the home side in recent weeks. Each of Real´s last ten games saw a minimum of three goals scored. A similar outcome seems likely on Thursday with Celta also seeing plenty of high-scorers this season, particularly in away fixtures.

Claudio Giráldez´s side return to Spain´s capital after a 2:1 defeat in Madrid against Rayo in their most recent outing last week. An inconsistent side, Celta won six but lost five of their last 13 games across all competitions. 

Like the hosts, Celta  have seen plenty of goals scored in recent fixtures. Over 2.5 goals occurred in seven of their eight most recent away contests. Previous encounters between these rivals have also delivered in the goal markets. At least three goals were scored in six of their eight previous meetings. 

With Real desperate for a return to winning form, I expect an open and entertaining fixture where the hosts should emerge victorious. A home win with at least three goals scored is my top tip in Madrid.
