Last season, Rayo Vallecano barely secured survival, finishing 17th with 38 points. This year, Los Franjirrojos looked like a team that could secure Europe fairly easily for only the second time in the club's history. Unfortunately, they won just once in the last eight games and, because of it, dropped to 10th place with 40 points after 31 rounds. However, they are only three points away from the European spots, and with a good season finish, they can do it. But their recent form is certainly a reason for concern.
Valencia have been mostly a mid-table team in the recent five seasons, constantly finishing between 9th and 14th place. This season, it seemed that the Bats will have trouble securing survival. But after winning 14 points in the last six matches, they moved to 13th place with 37 points. Right now, they are a comfortable eight points away from the danger zone. In fact, they are now closer to the European spots than the relegation zone.
Rayo Vallecano vs Valencia pick: Valencia to (AH 0) win
Rayo Vallecano lost back-to-back games against Espanyol and Athletic Bilbao with a terrible 1:7 goal difference. Moreover, they have been in bad form for some time now, as they only won once in the last eight games. Their only win during that time was 2:0 vs Alaves, but they were super lucky, and we firmly believe Alaves deserved at least a draw if not all three points.
On the other hand, Valencia are on a fantastic six-game unbeaten run while also winning the last three matches. While their road record hasn't been great, the latest road win against Real Madrid was massive, which should give them confidence for the upcoming road matches.
In the previous four h2h games, we saw one win for each team and two draws. We expect another close match, but considering all the above and especially the difference in form, we believe the Bats should be much closer to winning the upcoming La Liga tie.

Valencia team news
After a 1:0 win over Sevilla, coach Carlos Coberan spoke to the media. He said they could be satisfied with the games they won recently but also said the objective hadn't yet been achieved. "I'm pleased to see that the work, commitment, and intensity they put into it is yielding results," the coach added.
When it comes to injuries, Ivan Jaime and Thierry Correia should remain sidelined with their long-term injuries.
