On Tuesday evening, France and the Netherlands champs, PSG and PSV, will face off against each other in the third round of the Champions League at the Parc des Princes Paris.
PSG have been a dominant force in France for over a decade as they won ten titles and were the runner-up in two more seasons. However, their main goal of securing the Champions League trophy is still unreachable. Over the Summer, the Mbappe drama was finally over, and even though losing one of the best players in the world definitely hurts, the Parisians are playing fairly well. However, some football pundits have criticized them already, saying they are not on an expected level. They are at the top of Ligue 1 with 20 points in eight rounds, while in the Champions League, they were half-successful, winning three points in two rounds.
PSV won the previous league title in super-dominant fashion, winning 91 points in 34 rounds and with only one loss during the Eredivisie season. This year, they continued with dominant performances in the domestic league, winning all nine games with an incredible +23 goal difference. But, in the Champions League, the popular Peasants are not doing well. They won just one point in two rounds and are under pressure to win points against one of the main contenders for the title, PSG.
PSG vs PSV pick: PSG to win and cover the -1 AH spread
PSG are playing well this year, but their performances at home have been particularly impressive, considering they won all five games while scoring at least three goals on four occasions. Before the international break, they had some problems as they won just one point in two games against Nice and Arsenal, but both of those games were away from home, and they definitely deserved more from both of those matches.
PSV are in good form, no doubt about it. But realistically, the level of competition they faced isn't really impressive. In games against good teams, AZ Alkmaar, Sporting, Juventus, and Feyenoord, PSV had just one win. But even that win against AZ Alkmaar was only due to an early card for AZ. So, even though they have a nice (75%) win rate, we can see a similar trend against good teams.
Simply, PSG are a better team overall, and considering what we have seen from them at home this season, there is no reason to doubt they can win the fifth game in a row at Parc des Princes.
PSG team news
In one of his recent interviews, coach Luis Henrique spoke about the current situation. He said they are facing criticism but feel they are playing well. "The start of the season, in general, has been very positive, even more positive than I imagined," the coach said. Also, in recent days, the coach demanded Florian Wirtz from Leverkusen, and according to speculations, the club will try to add him for around 150 million euros.
The team should have no new injuries, but Lucas Hernandez, Presnel Kimpembe, and Goncalo Ramos, who missed the previous games, should remain sidelined.

PSV team news
After a 2:1 win against AZ Alkmaar, coach Peter Bosz spoke to the media. he was pleased with the win but admitted it was an annoying second half. He said that the place was too slow and they weren't good enough for the second 45 minutes. "Winning always gets harder and harder. Opponents adjust to you, you can see that today," Bosz added.
Jerdy Schouten suffered an injury during the AZ game and had to leave the field after 46 minutes. For now, he is questionable for the upcoming match. Meanwhile, Sergino Dest, Fode Fofana, Hirving Lozano, and Joey Veerman should remain sidelined with their injuries.
