Poland and Lithuania go head to head in Warsaw on Friday night, with both sides looking to start their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaigns on a winning note.

The hosts have not tasted victory since beating Scotland 3-2 in the Nations League in September. Michał Probierz's side are winless in their last five matches, losing four and conceding an average of almost three goals per game.

Lithuania lost all six of their matches in the Nations League group stage. Including previous World Cup qualifiers, the visitors are now without a win in six consecutive matches, a run that looks set to be extended this week as they have failed to win each of their last four meetings with Poland.

Poland vs Lithuania Betting Tips: Over 2.5 goals

Lithuania didn't just fail to pick up a single point during the Nations League campaign, they also had the worst defence in Group 2, conceding almost two goals per game. They conceded more than two goals in all but one of their three away matches.

And although Poland won just one of their last eleven competitive matches, Robert Lewandowski and Co rarely fail to score, with the team boasting at least one goal in eight of their last nine games. In seven of those games, three or more goals were scored and I expect a similar result this week.

  • Best Tip: Over 2.5 goals
  • Poland vs Lithuania prediction: 2-1

Poland team news

Serie A duo Sebastian Walukiewicz and Nicola Zalewski didn't make the 25-man squad named by head coach Michał Probierz last week due to injury.

Poland's all-time leading scorer Robert Lewandowski is back in the squad after missing the Nations League matches in November with a back injury.

Lewandowski's Barcelona teammate Wojciech Szczęsny is not in the squad. The goalkeeper reportedly turned down the opportunity to return to the national team.

Lithuania team news

Kauno Žalgiris midfielder Fedor Černych is the most-capped player (97) in the Lithuanian squad named by head coach Edgaras Jankauskas for the international break.

Fedor is also the team's top scorer with 15 goals, while Deividas Mikelionis and Lukas Paukštė are still hoping to make their first appearances for Rinktine.
