While Nigeria have already secured their place at the Africa Cup of Nations Finals, Rwanda make the trip to Uyo knowing they must win to have any chance of joining the hosts in Morocco next year.

Sitting at the top of the section, Nigeria have enjoyed serene progress to the finals, remaining unbeaten in Group D with 11 points picked up from five games played. A 1:1 draw in Benin on Friday secured top spot for Augustine Eguavoen´s side.

Strong defensively, the Super Eagles conceded just one goal in those five games, and while already assured of first place in the section, will be keen to conclude their campaign on a high.

Nigeria boast a strong home record in AFCON qualifiers, winning eight of their last ten games since 2018 and a similar outcome seems likely on Monday.

Rwanda come into this contest currently third in the section, with five points wracked up from five games played. Two points behind Benin, the visitors must win while hoping Libya can do them a favour in Monday's final set of Group D fixtures. 

While often a tough side to beat, Rwanda have failed to win any of their last 13 away AFCON qualifiers (D7, L6), including a 3:0 defeat in Benin in their most recent road trip.

Recent meetings between these nations have favoured Nigeria, in what is usually a low-scoring contest. Under 2.5 goals were scored in all six previous encounters, with the Rwandans scoring just one goal in those matches.

Ultimately, a low-scoring outcome, with Nigeria likely to edge their way to another victory can be expected.
