Relegation-threatened Newport have a great chance to extend their unbeaten run to three matches when they face fellow strugglers Morecambe this week.

Having broken a five-game losing streak with a valuable draw at Salford last week, Nélson Jardim´s side claimed a first win of the year with a hard-fought 1:0 victory against Barrow over the weekend.

While the hosts have struggled to find much consistency in performance, they have won two of their last four home fixtures, and they can take advantage of a Morecambe side that has struggled in recent away matches.

Derek Adams' side arrive at Rodney Parade after breaking their four-game losing run with an entertaining 4:2 win against Fleetwood Town on Saturday. Despite that victory, Morecambe remains inside the relegation zone, three points behind Tranmere Rovers. 

On the road, the Shrimps have struggled in recent weeks, losing five while winning just one of seven previous away fixtures. Morecambe also failed to net in all five defeats.

With Newport claiming wins in each of their last three encounters, including a 5:3 win at this venue last season, I'm confident Jardim´s men can score a win on Tuesday.

My money is on the home victory at Rodney Parade.
