Second-from-bottom Nantes will aim to escape the relegation zone as they host Rennes at Stade de la Beaujoire in round 14 of Ligue 1 on Sunday.

Nantes made an unexpectedly good start in the French top flight, picking up seven out of a possible nine points from their opening trio of matches, but since then, their campaign has come to a complete halt, and it seems there's still no end in sight to their struggles. The latest league outing sees Les Canaris stretching their rotten winless streak to 10 matches (D4 L6), but they can at least take some pride and solace in holding three-time reigning national champions Paris Saint-Germain to a 1-1 draw, staying just two points from safety.

Standing in their way is Stade Rennais, who last Saturday delivered their best performance of the season, smashing faltering Saint-Etienne 5-0, and in doing so, they masterfully put an end to a tough three-match losing sequence. Overall, Les Rouge et Noirs can’t be pleased with their 2024-25 campaign so far, as their unimpressive 14-point haul from 13 top-flight matches marks their poorest Ligue 1 start since the 2002-23 season when they only managed nine points by this stage.
