  • Venue: Stade Louis II

Monaco will be looking to maintain their place in the top four of the French top flight with a win when they play host to Nantes on Saturday evening.

After ending January with a humiliating 3:0 defeat against Inter Milan in the Champions League, Monaco responded well with a 4:2 win of their own over Auxerre at home in Ligue 1 on the 1st of February. The results of their subsequent two games didn't go their way, however. Les Rouge et Blancs suffered a 4-1 defeat at PSG last Friday and also lost at home to Benfica in the Champion League in midweek.

Nantes, meanwhile, sit just three points above the bottom three. They are not in the top ten for away results in the division this season, but 11 of their 21 points have come on the road. Les Canaris are unbeaten in their last four away games in Ligue 1 and will be looking to extend that run on Saturday night.

Monaco vs Nantes Betting Tips: Over 2.5 goals

Both sides are struggling defensively at the moment with the hosts without a clean sheet in their last five matches, while Nantes finished just one of their last 19 Ligue 1 outings without conceding.

The major headline in the recent league games of Monaco at Stade Louis II has been entertainment. Each of the last three produced 5+ goals and I fancy a similar result this weekend.

Meetings between Monaco and Nantes are also known for being entertaining as each of the last five produced 4+ goals.

  • Best Tip: Over 2.5 goals
  • Monaco vs Nantes prediction: 3-2

Monaco team news

Folarin Balogun has not featured for Monaco since last December due to a shoulder injury and the forward is not expected to return before April.

Saturday’s game will also come too soon for George Ilenikhena who is nursing an adductor injury that has kept him out of the last nine matches.

Al-Musrati picked up a red card for two bookable offenses against Benfica last time out but that will not result in a domestic suspension.

Nantes team news

As for Nantes, head coach Antoine Kombouaré will be without the services of Tino Kadewere and Nathan Zézé this weekend due to injuries.

Kadewere has been struggling with a dead leg since November, while Zeze picked up an ankle injury in the second week of January.
