After three rounds in the qualifications for the Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt separated itself from its opponents by a maximum of nine points. The Pharaons could already secure a place at the continental championship on Tuesday. The place at the tournament will get the second-best team in the group, too. At the moment, Cape Verde, Botswana, and Mauritania all have three points. 

Mauritania have only made three appearances at the Africa Cup of Nations in its history. Interestingly, all three came in the last three tournament editions. Mauritania still have a solid chance for another appearance, but they have to improve their form drastically. Mauritania lost four of the last five matches. 

Egypt are the most successful team in Africa at the continental tournament, with seven titles. Next year, when Morocco hosts the next Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt will again be one of the favorites to lift the trophy. Egypt are in fantastic form, with four wins from the last five matches. 

Mauritania and Egypt met on Friday in Cairo and the home side secured a 2-0 win. Egypt was better from the start, but the guests defended well for most of the match. In the second half, Hossam Hassan's team scored two goals and recorded a win that will make them one step closer to the Africa Cup of Nations main tournament.

Egypt won 2-0 against Mauritania a few days ago, but the Pharaons could finish with even more scored goals. We should expect another big win for Hossam Hassan's team on Tuesday evening in Nouakchott.
