On Monday evening, two promotion candidates, Leeds and Sunderland, will face off in the 33rd round of the Championship at Elland Road in Leeds.
Leeds failed to secure promotion last year even though everyone expected them to do so. They finished third and eventually failed to come out of the playoffs. This season, the Whites are trying to avoid playing in the playoffs and, for now, are looking really good. They are at the top spot with 69 points from 32 matches - five points away from third-placed Burnley. As the season progresses, they are only looking better, considering they are currently on a 14-hame unbeaten run.
Sunderland had a terrible last season, finishing 16th. Since most football experts expected them to be in the playoffs, it was a massive failure. Still, this season, the Black Cats are doing great and are in fourth place with 62 points - just five points away from second-placed Sheffield and direct promotion. Direct promotion may be a bit unreal, but securing the playoffs seems inevitable, as they are 17 points away from dropping to seventh place.
Leeds vs Sunderland pick: Over 2.5 goals
Leeds are in excellent form with three league wins in a row and 11 scored goals - 3.7 per game. They are by far the best offensive team in the league, with 66 scored goals in 32 matches (2.1 per game). So, scoring at least a couple goals at home is a must!
Sunderland is also in very good form, on a six-game unbeaten run. Lately, they have been excellent offensively, scoring two or more goals in the last four matches. While we believe they are capable of scoring against anyone at this moment, we do not trust their defense, considering they allowed six goals in the last four matches - 1.5 per game. Because of a good offense and not-that-great defense in recent matches, we saw three or more goals in three of the last four matches.
In the first h2h game, we saw an exciting 2:2 draw. Considering all the above, we expect a high-scoring match once again, most likely with both teams scoring.

Leeds team news
After a 4:0 win over Watford, coach Daniel Farke spoke to the media. He was delighted with a win, saying they were excellent on the counterattack and easily scored the goals. "We know we have good momentum and a great shape, but we have to use it and keep going. We need to stay awake and need a little bit of luck in hopefully not getting injuries to key players," the coach added.
The team should have almost the entire squad available. Only Patrick Bamford, who missed the last nine games with a hamstring injury, should remain sidelined.

Sunderland team news
Midfielder Christopher Rigg suffered an injury in the previous game against Luton Town and had to leave the field in the 76th minute. It was an unfortunate moment for the 17-year-old as he had started in six of the last seven games.
Ajibola Alese, Alan Browne, Jayden Danns, Niall Huggins, Romaine Mundle, and Tom Watson, who missed the previous games with injuries, should remain sidelined.
