After only seventh place on the table last season, Lazio returned to the Serie A title contenders with 34 points from the first 17 matches. Atalanta, Napoli, and Inter seem to be better teams, but Lazio have their hopes for at least finishing in the top-four teams. Lazio had problems beating Lecce, and the head coach, Marco Baroni, said the team needed to recharge their batteries as they started to feel tired. Baroni added that the players will have a short break around Christmas, so maybe that will help.

Atalanta's Mateo Retegui suffered an ankle injury in the previous Serie A round, so the first estimation is that he will not play in the next few weeks.
