After only seventh place on the table last season, Lazio returned to the Serie A title contenders with 34 points from the first 17 matches. Atalanta, Napoli, and Inter seem to be better teams, but Lazio have their hopes for at least finishing in the top-four teams. Marco Baroni's team played well recently as they won four of the last five matches in all competitions. In the previous game, Lazio won 2-1 on the road against Lecce. Although the guests tripled the opponent's xG, securing all three points was far from easy, as Adam Marusic scored the game-winning goal late in the second half. 

Atalanta have been the top Serie A team since the 2016/17 season, but this year, they even raised their level. After almost half of the season, Gian Piero Gasperini's team is first on the table with two points more than the closest on the table, Napoli. Atalanta are on an incredible run as they have won 12 of the last 13 matches. In the previous game, they won 3-2 at home against Empoli. The home side expected a much easier match. The teams were pretty even, but Gasperini's team found a way to secure a victory.
