Following a two-week break over the festive period, Barcelona return to action with plenty to do if they are to get themselves back in the La Liga title race. Currently fourth in the division, Xavi´s side currently find themselves seven points behind pacesetters Real Madrid and Girona.

A poor run of form in the fortnight before Christmas saw Barcelona win just one of four matches while they suffered a major setback with a 4:2 home defeat against unlikely title rivals Girona. 

Back on their travels, La Blaugrana can expect a stiff test on Thursday with Las Palmas winning four and losing only one of their last eight home matches. Away from home, Barcelona have only managed to win one of their last six matches with just two clean sheets kept in ten road matches since August. 

Barcelona do have a great record in this fixture and remain unbeaten in their last ten meetings over the past 25 years. However, the Catalans were held to a draw on their last visit to this venue some six years ago.

With the Catalans struggling for clean sheets, BTTS looks to offer the most value on Thursday. Xavi´s side have seen that outcome in seven of their last eight matches including each of the last three away from home. Las Palmas, for their part, have only failed to score in one of their last six home fixtures.

Given Barca´s inconsistent form, I´m taking BTTS as my top pick with the home side capable of making this another tricky away day for the Catalan giants.
