Ireland will be looking to register back to back wins in an international break for the first time since October 2021 when they play host to Bulgaria on Sunday night.
After their last outing on the international stage ended in a humiliating 5-0 defeat to England in November, Heimir Hallgrímsson's side needed to respond and they did just that on Thursday. The Boys in Green came from a goal down to beat Bulgaria in the first leg of their Nations League tie in Plovdiv on Thursday night, meaning another win or even a draw this weekend will be enough for them to avoid relegation to Group C.
Bulgaria went into Thursday's clash on a two-match unbeaten run and made one of the best possible starts. Marin Plamenov Petkov put the Lions 1:0 up after just six minutes, but they couldn't produce the kind of defensive masterclass we saw in November when they held on to an early lead to beat Luxembourg 1-0.
Ireland vs Bulgaria Betting Tips: Under 2.5 goals
One major headline in the recent games of Ireland on home soil has been the absence of goals. The Greens last encounter at home back in November saw them register a 1-0 win over Finland and none of the previous three produced more than two goals.
Bulgaria don’t seem to be giving too many goals away at the moment. The visitors boast four clean sheets from their last seven competitive matches and have shipped under one goal in all but two of the last eleven in all competitions.
- Best Tip: Under 2.5 goals
- Ireland vs Bulgaria prediction: 0-0

Ireland team news
Given that substitutes didn't play much of a role in the first leg comeback and there were no injuries, head coach Heimir Hallgrímsson is likely to stick with his XI.
Evan Ferguson, Mark Sykes and Jack Taylor all came on as late substitutes in that game and the trio are expected to be on the bench again this weekend.

Bulgaria team news
Dimitar Mitov is unlikely to start for Bulgaria this weekend, having been replaced by Plamen Iliev at the start of the second half last time out.
Iliev is likely to be protected in goal by the centre-back pairing of Zhivko Atanasov and Aleks Petkov, while Marin Plamenov Petkov will retain his place on the wing.
