Wales will be looking to register back to back wins for the first time in almost a year when they face Iceland in Reykjavík on Friday evening.

Not many things have gone the way of Iceland in recent months. Vincenzo Montella’s side were last in action back in September when they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Turkey on the second day of their Nations League campaign. Our Boys won the first encounter against Montenegro but that has been their only win from the last three competitive matches, going back to the EURO Qualifiers.

Wales last won successive games in October 2023, when they won three in a row – beating Latvia and Croatia in the Euro Qualifiers while thrashing Gibraltar 4-0 in a friendly. However, Craig Bellamy’s side have been a difficult opponent to beat lately, with the Dragons unbeaten in their last eight competitive fixtures.

Iceland vs Wales Betting Tips: Draw & Under 2.5 goals

Iceland shipped three goals against Turkey back in September but Our Boys have a history of being solid defensively when playing on home soil. Vincenzo Montella’s side kept a clean sheet in each of their last two competitive home matches and didn’t concede more than one goal in each of the last five.

Wales have not also given away many goals in recent months. The Dragons conceded under one goal in each of their last seven competitive outings and bets on the ‘’Under 2.5 goals’’ option lost only three times in that spell.

  • Best Tip: Under 2.5 goals
  • Iceland vs Wales prediction: 1-1

Iceland team news

Åge Hareide is expected to make wholesale changes to the side that was on the pitch from kickoff in the humiliating defeat to Turkey last month.

Real Sociedad forward Orri Óskarsson featured only as a substitute in that game but the 20-year-old could get a start this week.

Thorsteinsson is another man pushing for a start upfront, while there should be a spot at right-back for Plymouth Arglyle's Victor Pálsson.
