Hull City welcome Plymouth Argyle to the MKM Stadium on Tuesday evening for a crucial bottom-of-the-table Championship clash. With both sides struggling near the relegation zone, Tuesday´s contest could be pivotal in the battle for survival.

Hull City enter this fixture on the back of a 1:0 defeat to Cardiff City, a frustrating setback after their surprise 1:0 win against promotion hopefuls Sunderland just a week earlier. While they remain just above the relegation zone in 21st place, their poor home form has been a major issue. The Tigers have failed to win their last six home matches in all competitions, and they now retain the worst home record in the Championship, collecting just 13 points from 17 matches.

Plymouth travel to Hull in desperate search of their first away win of the season. The visitors have the worst road record in the Championship having picked up just five points from 17 league fixtures on their travels. 

Miron Muslic’s men did put in a strong performance in their FA Cup defeat at Manchester City on Saturday, taking the lead at the Etihad before eventually to a 3:1 defeat. While winless in four, Argyle have lost only two of their last eight matches.

Goals at both ends look likely on Tuesday with BTTS landing in six of Hull’s last seven home matches and six of Plymouth’s last eight games. The visitors have also seen BTTS in three of their last four away games, while Hull’s defensive struggles at this venue suggest Plymouth can bring up the both teams to score selection.

With both teams defensively vulnerable, and desperate for the points, I expect an open contest that should see a BTTS outcome.
