- Date: Tuesday, 17th December 2024
- Kickoff: 18:00 UK / 19:00 CET
- Venue: Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes (Granada)
After relegation from La Liga, most pundits expected Granada to have a prominent role in the second level of Spanish football. However, after almost half of the season, Fran Escriba's team is eight points behind the league leader, Racing Santander. Granada are playing solid lately, with two wins in the previous three matches. In the last game, they lost 2-0 on the road against Real Oviedo. The teams were pretty even for most of the match, but the home team's excellent last ten minutes sealed the winner.
Cartagena are one of the weakest La Liga 2 teams and would be very satisfied with avoiding relegation. After 19 rounds, Cartagena already have eight points fewer than the safety. Jandro's team has shown some signs of good form lately, with two wins in a row, but in the previous match, they lost 4-1 on the road against Castellon. That was another terrible road game for Cartagena as they finished the match with only 31% ball possession and 15 shots on the goal, fewer than the home side.
Granada vs Cartagena pick: Granada to win and cover AH -1 spread
Cartagena are a terrible road team with a 2-0-8 record. In the last four matches, they have had one win and three defeats, with a 2:6 goal difference. We should expect Granada to win and cover AH -1 spread at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes on Tuesday evening.

Granada team news
Granada's head coach, Fran Escriba, was angry after his team lost points late in the game. He said, "Let me be clear: congratulations to Oviedo, but they lost this match. They won it because of the squad and the players because they created chances, but it was because of our mistakes. Everything was a mistake. Their chances were mistakes. It was a 0-0 match, and even if you don't like it, you have to know how to defend results like this because you can find something."

Cartagena team news
Cartagena were outplayed for the weekend in Castellon de la Plana, and the head coach, Jandro, was pretty realistic about it. He said, "They were better than us, and there is not much to say about that. Castellón is a team that starts off very strong, and we talked about coming out strong and stopping them. But we didn't do that, and those two chances at the beginning made them grow. They dominated us and outplayed us."
