Gambia vs Tunisia Betting Tips - Under 2.5 goals

Gambia comes into their second fixture of AFCON qualification currently second in Group A with one point, while Tunisia leads the group after a narrow victory over Madagascar in their opening game.

Ranked 132nd in the world, Gambia are aiming to qualify for their third consecutive AFCON. Held to a 1:1 draw against the Comoros in their opening match, Gambia have struggled to find much form in recent outings, with six defeats suffered in their last eight matches. However, the hosts do have a strong record in AFCON qualifiers, particularly in home games, where they remain unbeaten in their last nine outings. 

Historically, Gambia have had some success against Tunisia, winning their last two encounters, including a 1_0 victory in the 2022 AFCON. While they’ve struggled for form recently, with only one win in their last six matches, Gambia will be motivated to avoid defeat and stay competitive in the group.

Tunisia, led by Faouzi Benzarti, are seeking redemption after a disappointing AFCON earlier this year which saw them eliminated in the first phase. The Scorpions claimed a 1:0 win against Madagascar on Wednesday, extending their unbeaten run to seven matches.

Defensively strong, the visitors are rarely involved in high-scoring outcomes. Each of their last 11 matches saw under 2.5 goals scored, while nine of their last 11 away fixtures, also saw fewer than three goals netted.

Ultimately, a low-scoring occasion seems likely, with Gambia stronger at home and keen to avoid defeat, and Tunisia so defensively sound. Under 2.5 goals is my top tip, for a contest could well finish deadlocked.
