Both teams come into Sunday's fixture with plenty to play for as the Serie A season enters its final stretch.

Unbeaten in eight matches, hosts Fiorentina have enjoyed a decent run of form, both domestically and in European competition. The Viola secured a 4:3 aggregate victory against Celje to seal a place in the Conference League semi-finals while they have picked up wins in three of their last five Serie A matches.

Placed eighth in Serie A, Raffaele Palladino's side find themselves just four points behind fourth-placed Bologna. While a late push for Champions League qualification seems unlikely, Fiorentina remain very much in the hunt to secure a return to European competitions next season. 

A strong run of form in Florence has seen the home side win five of their last seven Serie A matches at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Empoli make the trip to Florence now winless in eight matches, and with the spectre of relegation still looming large. The visitors find themselves in the relegation zone, one point short of safety with just five games remaining in the Serie A season. 

A poor run of form on the road has seen the Azzurri Empolesi fail to win each of their last nine away Serie A games. Six of those matches ended in defeat, and a similar outcome could be on the cards this weekend.

While recent encounters between these sides have been evenly matched, I expect Fiorentina to extend their unbeaten stretch with another home victory.
