As a former European champion and two-time UEFA Cup winner, the name Feyenoord carries a lot of weight in European football. This club is slowly returning to its rightful place. This season, they will try to squeeze into the reformed knockout phase of the strongest European club football competition. The start of the season was not promising, as they were outclassed on their home field by Bayer Leverkusen with a score of 4-0. But Feyenoord and its players showed character, and with two consecutive victories, they entered the group of teams with six points earned after three rounds. First, after a turnaround and a lot of excitement, they defeated the debutant Girona 3-2 on the road, and then they achieved an even more impressive victory on the road against a serious Benfica team with a score of 3-1. Already after half an hour of the match, Feyenoord was leading 2-0 in one of the toughest away games in the league. This was followed by huge pressure from the home team, which reduced the score in the middle of the second half. At that moment, everyone expected Benfica to at least equalize, but Feyenoord expertly closed the game and confirmed the victory with another goal deep in stoppage time.
On the other hand, Salzburg has had a forgettable start to the season. Despite a very favorable schedule at the beginning of the campaign, the Austrian representative did not manage to win a single point in the first three games. It's even more disappointing for them that they didn't manage to score a goal, having played against clubs of at least equal quality. The last blow for them in the Champions League was the defeat at home against Dinamo Zagreb, who set a negative competition record by losing to Bayern Munich 9-2. That something is seriously not working in Salzburg was also evident in the last two matches of the domestic championship, in which they did not score a goal against, with all due respect, modest teams like Wolfsberger and Grazer.
Feyenoord vs Salzburg pick: FEYENOORD TO WIN
This match comes at a great time for the home team. Feyenoord is on a roll, with 6 wins in their last 7 matches across all competitions. During that stretch, they experienced their only defeat at home against Ajax in the last Eredivisie match, but they quickly moved on, defeating AZ Alkmaar 3-2 in a thrilling derby just three days later. Manager Brian Priska will be pleased to see that more players have found their form and are in a great mood as they prepare for this match. The same cannot be said for the visiting players and their coach, whose seat is becoming unstable after a series of poor results. Many football experts are surprised that Pepijn Lijnders is still at the helm of Salzburg and believe it’s only a matter of time before the Dutchman is replaced. This change may be necessary for the team to raise their level of play, even slightly. Until then, they are likely to continue their string of negative results in the Champions League. I have no doubt that the home team will secure the victory.

Salzburg team news
Salzburg will head to Rotterdam significantly weakened, as they’ll be missing several key players. Fernando, Takumi Kawamura, Petar Ratkov, Moussa Yeo, Amar Dedic, Maurits Kjaergaard, and Bryan Okoh will all be absent. This could seriously impact their performance, as these players have played an important role in previous matches.
