Fenerbahçe and Lyon are set to face off in the Europa League in Istanbul with the hosts badly in need of a victory on Thursday.

Six games into the campaign, the Turks sit 21st in the league standings, and only a point above their nearest rivals in the race to qualify for the next phase. 

Led by legendary boss José Mourinho, Fener have enjoyed a strong run of results since a 2:0 home defeat against Bilbao in their most recent Europa League runout. Since that defeat, the Turks won five and drew one of six domestic matches, while scoring 16 goals in the process. 

Defensive issues remain though, with clean sheets few and far between. Fenerbahce conceded at least one goal in nine of their last 11 matches, and I expect that trend to continue on Thursday.

While usually strong at home, Mourinho´s men can expect a stiff test against a Lyon side already assured of a place in the next phase of the Europa League. The Ligue 1 outfit have picked up 13 points from six games, leaving them fourth in the league, three points behind leaders Lazio.

Goals can usually be expected when Les GOnes are in action. BTTS occurred in six of their last seven away Europa League fixtures and in seven of their eight most recent away matches. 

With Fenerbahce in need of the points, but short in defensive consistency, I expect an open and entertaining affair where both teams should get on the scoresheet.

BTTS is my first pick, while I also envisage a minimum of three goals scored.
