Two sides separated by just one point in the 2024-25 Euorpa League standings go head to head on Thursday evening as FC Porto play host to Olympiacos.
Porto have won two domestic titles this season, beating Sporting CP twice in the Taca de Portugal and Super Cup finals. A few weeks ago, the Dragons looked like Primeira Liga title contenders but their recent form has not been good. They were beaten by Sporting in the League Cup semi-finals two weeks ago and have lost their last two league games.
Olympiacos booked their place in the Europa League with a 1:0 win over Fiorentina in the Conference League final last season and seem to be making good use of the opportunity. The Greek side may sit outside the top eight but they have been hard to beat. José Luis Mendilibar's side have not lost in Europe since losing to Lyon on the opening day of the season – with two wins and three draws to their name.
FC Porto vs Olympiacos Betting Tips: Under 2.5 goals
Thursday's game will be the first meeting between Porto and Olympiacos since they met in the Champions League in 2010. Porto won both meetings 2:0 and I expect another tight encounter at the Estádio do Dragão this week.
The first reason is that Olympiacos have the joint second-best defence in the Europa League, having conceded just three goals in six games. All but one of their six matches ended with under 2.5 goals.
Porto are also struggling to find the back of the net at the moment. The Dragons failed to score in two of their last three matches and also had as many games end with under two goals.

Head coach Vitor Bruno received his sacking later on Monday after last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Gil Vicente in the Primeira Liga.
Bruno had been in charge for only six months, but the Lions’ defeat last time out was the third in a row across all competitions.
José Tavares has been appointed as the interim boss and the former Portuguese midfielder will be hoping to have a great debut.
Iván Marcano, Wendell, Marko Grujić and Alan Varela are all ruled out for the Europa League clash with Olympiacos due to injuries.

As for Olympiacos, Yusuf Yazıcı is set to miss the trip to Porto due to a long-term cruciate ligament injury, while Gelson Martins will miss out due to fitness issues.
