On Wednesday evening, the 245th Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool will take place at Goodison Park.

In the last three seasons, Everton were in the lower part of the league's table but managed to survive. This year, the Toffees are once again in survival mode, but after sacking Sean Dyche and adding David Moyes, things started going for the better. They won three PL games in a row and are now in 16th place with 26 points - a comfortable seven points away and played one game less than the rest of the teams in the relegation zone. However, in the last game, they were eliminated from the FA Cup by Bournemouth, 2:0, and will now focus on the PL and survival.

Liverpool are playing a fantastic season under Arne Slot. The Reds are at the top of the Premier League with 56 points from 23 matches - six points away from second-placed Arsenal and with a game played less. They were also the best team in the Champions League and secured the Carabao Cup Finals. Pretty much their only poor performance was in the previous game in the FA Cup, where Plymouth eliminated them. Yes, they rotated the squad, but it is still an unexpected loss to a Championship side.

Everton vs Liverpool pick: Both teams to score

Everton have been really good lately, winning the last three Premier League games and scoring eight goals - 2.7 per game. To be fair, those matches were against worse teams than Liverpool - Leicester City, Brighton, and Tottenham. Still, it is a good result regardless, and we believe they can score at home at least once, even against the Reds.

Liverpool have been fantastic offensively this season. In the Premier League, they are by far the best offensive team, with 56 goals in 23 rounds - 2.43 goals per game. Scoring at least a goal against anyone in the league is a must. On the other hand, their defense has been far from impressive lately, considering they kept just two clean sheets in the previous six games - 33%.

Liverpool are a better team, no doubt about that, but we do not trust them to win and cover the -1.5/2 AH spread. Instead, we believe that both teams to score bet is the safest option for the Merseyside derby.

Everton team news

After a 2:0 loss against Bournemouth, coach David Moyes spoke to the media. He said it was a disappointing start to the game as they gave away two dreadful goals. "We hit the post three times and had one cleared off the line. It just wasn't our day. We just needed one of the chances to go for us, and it didn't," the coach added.

Orel Mangala, Armando Broja, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Dwight McNeil, Youssef Ramalho Chermiti, and Seamus Coleman will remain sidelined with injuries, while Vitalii Mykolenko is listed as questionable.

Liverpool team news

After a loss against Plymouth in the FA Cup, coach Arne Slot spoke to the media. He praised Plymouth, saying they had a great day and deserved the credit for their performance. "In a game like this, when the two teams hardly have any chances, any openings, it's up to one moment, and today, that moment was for them," the coach added.

Joe Gomez suffered a thigh injury against Plymouth and had to leave the field after only 11 minutes. He will most likely miss the upcoming game, and so will Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is also out with a thigh injury.
