In the previous several years, Ennpi was a stable mid-table team in the Egyptian Premier League, not even close to dropping to the relegation zone. However, this season has been an absolute disaster as they are in 8th place (out of nine teams) in the Relegation Group. The safe zone is only three points, and they played one game less. Right now, they sit in 4th place in the Relegation Group, but five points more than Ennpi, although with a game played more. Now, they must not lose against Enppi to maintain that gap between them and the danger zone.

A few days ago, FIFA suspended Enppi from registering new players due to not paying their former coach, Jorvan Vieira, a release clause he has been entitled to. Enppi's president, Ayman El-Shereai, said that the club will deal with that matter in the upcoming days.

Goalkeeper Mohamed Amer suffered an injury in the previous league game and had to leave the field after only eight minutes.
